This has increased enthusiasm to do more regular healthy exercises among health staffs and public. We noticed during the cycle race that there was a greater number of the young generation actively joining this cycle race. As an academic of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna, we have a social commitment to implement strategies for preventing Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) through an active healthier life style according to the saying “prevention is better than cure”. We all have enthusiasm to implement the preventative measures to our community by reducing the NCDs socio-economic burden. Therefore, we have discussed this matter with Director, Teaching Hospital, Jaffna and will be organized more cycling programmes collaboratively with the students of the well-being center, Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna and the wellbeing society of Teaching Hospital Jaffna including consultants, doctors, allied health professionals, nursing officers and other health staffs to increase the public awareness in our region.
