TREE PLANTING EVENT AT FACULTY OF MEDICINE – A STEP TOWARDS A GREENER FUTURE

A tree planting event was held on 12th of May 2025 at 9:00 am as part of the Eco-Friendly Project initiated by the Students’ Wellbeing Centre at the Faculty of Medicine. The event aimed to promote environmental sustainability and enhance the greenery within the faculty premises, with the generous support of the Green layer Environmental Organization.

Various large tree species, including Indian gooseberry, Pungai, Malai Vembu, and Mahila Maram, were planted during the event.

Key participants included Dr. B. Balagobi, Coordinator of the Students’ Wellbeing Centre, Faculty of medicineDr. S. Selvaganesh, Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Teaching Hospital Jaffna, and Mr. P. Sasikumar, Founder of the Green layer Environmental Organization. The event also saw the active participation of the Medical Students’ Union and numerous medical students, who contributed enthusiastically to the planting activities.

This initiative shows a strong commitment to protecting the environment and supporting student wellbeing, helping to create a greener and healthier campus.
