A felicitation ceremony to honour Prof. Thavam Thambipillai, President of the International College of Surgeons, was held on 11 December 2025 at 11.30 a.m. at the CTRB Auditorium, Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna.
The event was graced by Prof S Srisatkunarajah, Vice Chancellor of the University of Jaffna, Prof R Surenthirakumaran, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Dr T Sathiyamoorthy, Director, Teaching Hospital Jaffna, academic staff of the Faculty of Medicine, and consultants and medical officers from the Teaching Hospital Jaffna. Their presence added significance to this special occasion.
During the ceremony, Prof. Thavam Thambipillai was warmly felicitated in recognition of his remarkable contributions to the field of surgery, medical education, and his dedicated service to the Faculty of Medicine and the Teaching Hospital Jaffna.
To mark this memorable event, mementos were presented to Prof. Thavam Thambi-Pillai by the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Surgery, International College of Surgeons-Sri Lanka Chapter and the Teaching Hospital Jaffna.
These tokens of appreciation symbolised the deep respect and gratitude for his longstanding commitment and service.
The ceremony concluded with words of appreciation and best wishes for Prof. Thavam Thambi-Pillai’s continued leadership and contributions to the medical community.
