The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna, in collaboration with the esteemed Jaffna Medical Association, organized a highly informative workshop on Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) on March 30, 2024. Held at the Conference Hall and Skill Lab, Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna, the workshop brought together a distinguished panel of experts and healthcare professionals to explore the fundamentals and best practices in this vital field.

Dr. Niubaa Umasankar, Senior Vice President of the Jaffna Medical Association, and Professor R. Surenthirakumaran, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Jaffna, addressed the events. Dr. N. Saravanabhava, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the Teaching Hospital Jaffna, Dr. R.S. Jeyandran, Andrologist and Director at Androlab, Chicago, USA, Mr. R.C.M.J.P.K. Rajapaksha, an experienced embryologist from Sri Lanka, Dr. S. Raguraman, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Jaffna and Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the Teaching Hospital Jaffna, and Dr. B. Balagobi, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Surgery at the University of Jaffna and Consultant Urological Surgeon at the Teaching Hospital Jaffna, were among the distinguished resource persons who enriched the workshop with their expertise.

In addition to these esteemed speakers, a diverse group of healthcare professionals including gynaecologists, embryologists, nurses, counsellors, and other allied healthcare professionals involved in Reproductive Medicine actively participated in the workshop.

The workshop provided a valuable platform for attendees to delve into the fundamental aspects of assisted reproductive technology, explore the latest developments, and share best practices aimed at enhancing the quality of care provided to patients. Hands-on sessions were conducted by experts in this field.

At the conclusion of the program, participants were awarded certificates in recognition of their commitment to advancing their knowledge and skills in this critical area of healthcare
