Given to students, who have not received Mahapola based on the financial status of the student. This is administered by AR/ welfare.

Malayan Ceylonese Bursary

Founded by Malayan Ceylonese Association (Ceylon), Jaffna.

Year of founding-1989

Original Endowment Rs.  66,000.00

Funds available as on May 2022: Rs. 30,400.80

Awarded since 1983 to a needy medical student until the completion of the course by Malayan Ceylonese Association (Ceylon) Jaffna.

UK Sri Lankan Medical and Dental Doctors Association Bursary

Original Endowment: None. Cash will be given directly to students from the above association.

Funds available as at 2022: None

Awarded to two needy medical students entering the Medical Faculty on their first attempt, depending on their parent/guardian’s income, and not receiving any other assistance.

If the student receives the Mahapola Scholarship/Bursary and the parent/guardian’s income is less than Rs. 2,000.00 per month, the student remains eligible.

Anandakumaraiah Bursary

Founded in 2002 by Mr. N. Anandakumaraiah of London, UK.

Awarded to a deserving and needy student entering the Faculty of the Medicine, until the completion of the course.

Mr. Aruliah and Mrs. Thialmuthu Sinniah Memorial Award

Founded in 1990 by Dr. P. Ratnasabapathy of Kaithady.

To be awarded to five students who receive neither Mahapola nor a Bursary. They should pass their examinations in the first attempt if they are to receive the award continuously.

Dr. G. M. Selvakone Memorial Bursary

Awarded by the Dr. G.M. Selvakone Memorial Research Organization, Ontario, Canada.

Kankesan Scholarship

Candidate must be a medical student at the faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna. Financial need is a prerequisite.

The Following factors will be taken into consideration:

  • Student who have lost their parents & students in female handed (single parent) households.
  • Disability or chronic sickness of parents or student.
  • Income level of the household.
  • The total burden of student’s expenses on the family earning.”
