
A three-day workshop on behavioral intervention for autism was organized by the Department of Psychiatry on August 28–30, 2025, at the CTRB and conducted by Dr. Kim Kroeger-Geoppinger (associate professor and clinical psychologist) and two of her associates from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, USA. The workshop was aimed at enhancing the capacity of the service providers for autism. A total of 44 participants, comprised of board-certified specialists, medical officers, teachers, and a range of multidisciplinary service providers from the governmental and non-governmental sectors, representing the northern, eastern, and central provinces, attended the workshop.
The workshop was supported by RDHS Jaffna and jointly funded by IMHO-USA and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, USA. Drs. Kaveri Sivaruban and Sumi Pathy, faculty alumni, played the role of bridging between the organizers, resources, and the participants. The contents, methods, and organization of the workshop were highly commended by all.
