British High Commissioner Visits Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna

The Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna, had the honour of welcoming the British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Hon. Mr. Andrew Patrick, for a special visit on June 19, 2025. The meeting, held in the Board Room of the Faculty, brought together key academic staff, research fellows, and administrative members involved in ongoing UK–Sri Lanka collaborative partnerships.

Prof. R. Surenthirakumaran, Dean of the Faculty, warmly welcomed the High Commissioner and presented an overview of major joint initiatives. He also provided a brief summary of other ongoing international partnerships involving the University.

Hon. Mr. Patrick expressed his appreciation for the wide range of collaborative efforts and emphasized the global relevance of these academic partnerships in tackling critical health and development challenges. He also noted that many of these impactful initiatives remain underpublicized, and encouraged efforts to enhance their visibility through strategic communication and media engagement. The discussion also explored potential pathways for future collaboration in health research and innovation, particularly in alignment with shared global priorities and funding opportunities.

The visit concluded with the presentation of a token of appreciation to the High Commissioner, symbolizing the faculty’s continued commitment to strengthening global health research and collaboration.
