The SAFE OR Course was designed by various specialist organisations (eg. Royal College of Surgeons, World Federation Society of Anaesthesiologists etc) to improve patient safety and outcomes in operating rooms. The course involves the mixed participation of Surgeons anaesthetists,obstetricians and OR nurses.
The first SAFE OR course to be conducted in Sri Lanka commenced this morning in the CTRB of the Faculty of Medicine. A team of seven from England led by Prof.Vivien Lees(vice-president of the RCS) are conducting this course for 32 participants and additionally,several local faculty. The medical faculty will be able to deliver this international course in the future on a regular basis.
