Registration Process

Once you receive the invitation letter from the UGC, you should enroll in the Admission Branch of the University of Jaffna by submitting the required documents.

In addition to that, the annual course fee US $ 12,500.00 should be paid on or before the date of enrollment.

Payment Details

For Local Payment

Please pay at any branch of the People’s Bank Island wide using the usual deposit slip.

Fill your personal information in the slip and use reference number in place of account number. Take and keep the photocopy of the slip with you before providing it to the university.

Pay the same amount as the total below.

 

For Foreign Payment

If you send payment from foreign please follow the instruction given below.

Visa Process

All prospective foreign students should note that the Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka will not convert tourist visa to student visa. Therefore, no person who wishes to gain admission to a university should enter the country on tourist visa and they should make arrangements to obtain visas in advance.

List of documents to be checked

For Entry Visa

  1. Covering letter of University/Institute to the Department of Immigration and Emigration.
  2. Recommendation of Vice Chancellor of University/Head of Institute for the covering letter to the Department of Immigration and Emigration.
  3. Certified copy of the passport of applicant.
  4. Certified copy of the selection letter which has been sent by the University / Institute informing the student.
  5. Police/ security clearance report for the student which had obtained from his/her country of residence.

For Residence Visa

  1. Covering letter of University/ Institute to the Department of Immigration and Emigration.
  2. Recommendation of Vice Chancellor of University/ Head of Institute for the cover letter to the Department of Immigration and Emigration.
  3. Certified copy of the passport of applicant.
  4. Applications of Residence Visa with recommendation of   Vice Chancellor/ Head of Institute and official seal.
  5. Landing Entry/ Learning Entry visa of applicant (compulsory)

For Extension of Residence Visa

  1. Covering letter of University/ Institute to the Department of Immigration and Emigration.
  2. Recommendation of Vice Chancellor of University/ Head of Institute for the cover letter to the Department of Immigration and Emigration.
  3. Certified copy of the passport of applicant.
  4. Recommendation of Vice-Chancellor of University/ Head of Institute for extension of the Residence Visa.
  5. Details of students who apply for extension of Residence Visa to be given in table (Annex I).
  6. If extension of Residence visa for lecturers is in terms of MoU, the full name and the signed date of MoU.
  7. Prior approval letter obtained from the Secretary to Line Ministry for the service of Lecturer on a payment basis.

APPLICATION FOR RECOMMENDATION OF ISSUING/EXTENSION OF RESIDENCE VISA

Annual Renewal

Annual renewal should be made at the beginning of every academic year.

Renewal Fee: LKR 1000.00

Course Fee: USD 12,500.00
