Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna is one of the leading faculties which provides a continuous medical education to medical graduates and participate actively in postgraduate training
The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Jaffna was established on 7th of August 1978. It was ceremonially opened by the Honourable Mr. Nissanka Wijeyeratne, Minister of Education and Higher Education on the 8th of October 1978. The Provincial Hospital Jaffna was declared as the Teaching Hospital of the Faculty of Medicine at the same time.
Students from other state and international universities are welcomed to do elective programme in our departments with prior approval from the Dean, Faculty of Medicine and the coordinator for elective appointments.
In addition to admission of students with local qualifications, special provisions have been made for admission of a limited number of students with foreign qualifications also to follow undergraduate courses of study leading to bachelor’s degrees, annually.
