Third Workshop on Curriculum Revision

Faculty of Medicine > News > Third Workshop on Curriculum Revision
This is the third workshop series on curriculum revision toward change to the modular system. The Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna has been routinely conducting curriculum revision workshops periodically to assess the curriculum and revise it based on feedback and expert opinion.

The last curriculum revision was conducted in 2019 involving all teachers and clinicians from Teaching Hospital, Jaffna. Recommended changes were implemented to some extent. The program review in 2019 suggested that curriculum revision has to be done to some extent yearly and to plan major revisions every 5 years. This is a follow-up workshop on a previous workshop conducted in 2021 to change Phase II to Modular System. Hence this workshop is planned in order to implement the major change in Phase II. The module committees have worked tirelessly and this workshop will be mainly to assess the assessment methodology.

Objectives:
  • Modifying the phase II to Module system by 2025.
  • Strengthening clinical teaching during phase II.
  • Formulating assessment methodology during the shift to the modular system.
The third workshop series on curriculum revision was held on Friday, 09.12.2022 at the Conference Hall of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna. Prof. Shalini Sri Ranganathan, Professor in Pharmacology, Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo participated as a resource person for this workshop. Her experience and close link to the Faculty of Medicine Jaffna will be more valuable.
