The Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) has initiated the process of accrediting the medical degree programs of individual state Medical Faculties in due course. This initiative by the SLMC is to streamline the accreditation of Sri Lankan Medical Faculties so that the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna would be compliant with international accreditation systems meeting global standards of medical education. 

The Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka has to satisfy the minimum standard requirements prescribed in the Gazette notification (Ref no 2055/54 2018.01.16) and World Federation of Medical Education (WFME). The requirement for the accreditation by the Sri Lanka Medical Council is mandatory for the WFME recognition.

The SLMC accreditation review team visited to the faculty from the 13th to the 15th of February 2023 for the site visit.
