The Memorandum of Understanding between the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka and Sri Sathya Sai International Organisation (SSIO) – Sri Lanka has been signed on 14.05.2023 at the University of Jaffna.

Prof. S. Srisatkunarajah – Vice Chancellor, University of Jaffna, Prof. R. Surenthirakumaran – Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Mr. V. Kandeepan – Registrar, University of Jaffna, Mr. N. Arumugathash – Deputy Registrar, Faculty of Medicine, Central Coordinator/ SSIO and other  representatives from the SSIO attended the above.

Both institutions agree to explore the implementation of the following types of activities:

  1. To increase awareness and raise the level of consciousness among youth to prevent them from involving in issues of Drugs, Alcohol, Relationship issues, Time Wastage and Smoking (D.A.R.T.S).
  2. Formation of a voluntary group of highly motivated individuals to empower youth to realize the dangers of the issues highlighted above and to inspire them to refrain from these activities.

To provide training and guidance to develop the skills and resources of the voluntary group. To develop and implement the DARTS programme at the school level.
