The primary aim of this workshop on “Endoscopic Live Demonstration” is to improve the quality of endoscopic procedures and the interpretation of findings among the regional endoscopic team. The workshop was organised collaboratively with the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna and SingHealth on the 11th of August 2023 at the Endoscopy Unit, Teaching Hospital, Jaffna. The workshop resource person was Dr N. Vikneshwaran, Senior Consultant Gastroenterologist, Singapore General Hospital, Singapore.

The session began with the presence of the invited resource person Dr N. Vikneshwaran followed by Prof. R. Surenthirakumaran (Dean, Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna), Prof. S.Rajendra (Professor in Surgery & Consultant Surgeon, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna), Dr S.Gobishangar (Senior Lecturer & Consultant Surgeon, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna), Ms Vijaya Rao (Deputy Director, Clinical Health Systems Programme, SDGHI Director, International Collaboration Office (ICO), SingHealth, Singapore) and Ms Irene Ang from Singapore and Senior Registrars and Registrars from TH, Jaffna.

The workshop commenced with the self-introduction of the resource person and the participants. Five cases were recruited and demonstrated, including Upper Gastro Intestinal Endoscopy and Colonoscopy. A more engaging and interactive discussion was conducted regarding the findings of those cases. Participants had the opportunity to clarify their queries during this discussion. After a successful and engaging three-hour demonstration, the session came to a joyful end, with the refreshments providing a pleasant opportunity for attendees to relax, socialise, and further discuss the topics covered during the demonstration. The participants of this workshop were Prof S.Rajendra, Dr S.Gobishangar, Dr K.Arooran, Dr Tharshan, Dr Sivakaran, Dr Prabath, Dr J.Thujeevan, Dr T.Kokulan, Dr G.Praneev, Dr J.S.Nilojan, Dr S.Sugirtha.

Our faculty demonstrators, Ms M Thanujah and Ms K Uthayatharani helped to arrange this workshop and refreshments.
