In view of creating awareness among the students of Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna about gender equality and gender-based issues, GCFM has successfully conducted a poster competition among the medical students.
The theme of the competition was ‘Gender equality’. The expected format was paintings/ sketches (not computer generated) of traditional/modern art of A 3 size.
Twelve posters were received. First, second, third and top ten posters were chosen by the judges Prof K Muhunthan, Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna, Ms. Kavitha Navakulan, Department of Linguistics and English, Faculty of Arts, University of Jaffna and Ms. T Krishnapriya, Visiting lecturer, Department of Fine arts, Faculty of Arts, University of Jaffna based on the theme, aesthetic beauty and originality.
Certificates and cash prizes (First prize – 10,000.00 LKR, second prize – 6,000.00 LKR, third prize – 4,000.00 LKR) for the top three posters were handed over in the 401st meeting of the faculty board on 21.02.2024. Certificates for the top ten posters and for participation were also handed over to the relevant students. Top three posters were framed and displayed in the faculty premises for viewing.
