The Andrology Laboratory at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna, offers comprehensive services dedicated to diagnosing and treating male infertility. Now refurbished and newly equipped, it is located at the new clinical teaching and research complex, Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna. Staffed by experienced professionals in the field of male and female infertility, a trained Andrology technical officer and research fellows. we provide essential support to individuals and clinics seeking solutions to male reproductive health concerns.

 

Services Offered

  • Routine Semen Analysis: This is the most basic and first step in determining fertility. It involves a sperm count, analysis of sperm shape by measures of strict morphology, and measuring sperm motility (movement).
  • Semen Processing Services: Utilizing advanced techniques, we offer semen processing services aimed at optimizing fertility treatments such as intrauterine insemination (IUI) and in vitro fertilization (IVF)

 

Research Activities:

  • Studies on Seminal Fluid Parameters:

Dive into the forefront of male reproductive research with our ongoing studies on seminal fluid parameters. By unravelling the intricacies of male subfertility, we aim to illuminate new pathways for diagnosis and treatment.

  • Studies on Male Infertility:

Collaborating with the Urologist Professorial Unit at Teaching Hospital Jaffna, our research endeavours are dedicated to advancing our understanding of male infertility. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, we strive to pioneer innovative clinical interventions.

 

Medical Education and Teaching:

We offer undergraduate, postgraduate, and Certificate courses in Semenology (Laboratory Andrology) and provide a nurturing environment for the next generation of healthcare professionals to thrive.
